As a top interior designer of Delhi, Ms. Sapna Aggarwal often shares some tips on sprucing up homes. Here are some tips on how to make your home look and feel more luxurious, high-end and expensive.
-
Choose A Neutral Paint Colour
Choosing a neutral paint colour instantly makes your home look high-end. But here’s what’s more important – using a neutral paint colour on your home’s walls gives you a BLANK CANVAS to work with. You can experiment with different colours and textures in furniture, rugs and so on.
I absolutely LOVE neutral paint colours because they are often timeless and even make your space feel bigger.
But remember, even something like a primarily white colour comes in many shades. Just choose a nice warm white colour for a cozy luxurious look.
2. Use the Rule of 3 with styling
I think the most important and easy way to make your home look expensive is by styling it well. When styling your home, use the rule of 3. The law of 3 says that you must group decor items of various shapes, sizes or textures in groups of 3. Doing so gives a dynamic angle and layers to a space.
For example, if you’re considering placing a vase in a corner, try having a large vase with higher stems, one much smaller vase and one of middle size.
You can buy decor pieces from anywhere and make them look luxurious just by styling them like a designer.
3. Match your dishes and cutlery
Honestly, just focusing on this little detail in your house – ensuring you have matching dishes or cutlery makes a lot of difference to your home’s overall look and feel.
It’s an easy change you can make at any time. I would recommend this even with things like towels. Try to match them. It creates a huge difference.
4. Focus on furniture layout
When placing furniture in a room, think of the focal point and organize starting from there. Simply pushing a sofa against a wall and adding a matching seating arrangement is boring and will instantly kill the look of the space, even if you’re using high-end furniture pieces.
Just be creative with the furniture layout. Make it balanced.
A symmetrical view, whether in the living room or bedroom, makes your space look more designed.
Remember, it’s about styling more than the cost of the furniture.
5. Pick a scent for your home
Think of yourself walking into a 5-star hotel. What do you feel? What do you smell?
A big part of the luxury 5-star hotel experience is the scent. You walk into a space, and it instantly feels more luxurious if it smells good.
The scent is another element of the design of a luxury home for us. Scented candles and aroma oil diffusers are my top choices to make a home smell good.
6. Add more lighting
Add lamps to your home. Floor lamps, table lamps, wall lamps – experiment with all these.
Ceiling lights are good, but adding just one lamp to a room can make it feel more homey and luxurious.
7. Declutter and organize
Lastly, one of the cheapest and easiest ways to make your home look more expensive is to declutter and organize.
When working on a home design, we pay extreme attention to the storage space and how everything is organized. It’s because a well-organized home instantly oozes out a luxurious vibe.
You may need to add more storage space or just a few organizers to make it easier for yourself to tidy up.
And there you go! These are 7 easy ways to make your home look more expensive. Which of these 7 tips are you going to use for yourself? Tell me in the comments below.
